Leiths - Quarry Supervisor

Achilty Quarry, Contin(Full Time) 

We are currently recruiting for a Quarry Supervisor at our Achilty Quarry.

Reporting to the Quarry Manager, you will be responsible under Section 8 of the Quarries Regulations 1999 for the safe and efficient management of our Achilty Quarry.

You will need to demonstrate a strong commitment to Health, Safety and Environmental management and possess the necessary competence and leadership skills to promote a positive team based culture.

Previous experience in a similar role is essential. The ideal candidate will have a sound working knowledge of quarry operations, as well as general maintenance activities. A flexible approach to work and good communication skills are also essential for this role and you would ideally hold or be working towards a SHE NVQ Level 3.

You must also hold a current UK driving licence and would ideally be available to commence employment at the earliest opportunity.

Torrin Quarry, Skye(Full Time) 

We are currently seeking to recruit an HGV Driver for our Torrin Quarry, Skye.

The post requires to be filled by someone who is a versatile, flexible and a willing worker who has knowledge of the local area.

You will require a sound understanding of the EU rules on drivers hours and be fully conversant with tachograph use.

A Class 2 licence is essential.

Leiths - Asphalt Plant Operative

Achilty Quarry, Contin(Full Time) 

We are currently looking to recruit an Asphalt Plant Operative for our Achilty Quarry.

You will be required to carry out the daily asphalt production operations, including completing paperwork, general housekeeping, routine maintenance and assisting fitters working on the plant, ensuring the Company’s Health, Safety and Environmental policies are adhered to at all times. 

We are looking for someone who is a hands on, versatile, flexible and accommodating worker who has a clean driving license and able to operate a computer. Ideally you will have previous experience of asphalt production however training will be given to candidates who can demonstrate the necessary skills and aptitude to take on this challenging role.

We are currently looking to recruit a Plant Operative to be based at Torrin Quarry, Skye.

You will be required to carry out routine quarry operations ensuring the Company’s Health, Safety and Environmental policies are adhered to at all times.

The post requires a current MPQC skills card and ideally you will have industry related experience, knowledge of quarrying operations and experience of operating fixed and mobile plant and machinery.

Leiths - Fabricator Welder

Rigifa, Cove(Full Time) 

We are currently seeking to recruit a Fabricator Welder for maintenance and repairs within our Workshop in Cove. 

You will be required to maintain our wide range of plant and fleet equipment.  The role requires an individual with extensive all round experience and in particular experience in bucket and crusher repairs. 

The ideal candidate will be a fully qualified welder with demonstrable experience as a fabricator working within the Quarrying industry.

You will be a team player who can also work alone or in a team in order to meet the demands of this busy fleet and plant maintenance division.  A current driving licence is essential as you will be required to travel to offsite environments.

Leiths - Purchasing Assistant

Rigifa, Cove(Full Time) 

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager you will be required to assist with the procurement and purchasing of parts, materials, supplies and services across multiple companies.

You will be involved in all aspects of the ordering process from helping with the placing of orders to following up on purchase order queries and matching deliveries to orders. The key responsibilities of the role will also include the processing of all computer purchase orders from initial placement of orders with suppliers through to receipting of orders into the financial accounting system. You will also be responsible for booking of all hotel accommodation, management of the inventory of stationery items and assistance with the set up of preferred suppliers, prices/contracts.

You should have a good telephone manner, good organisational skills, be able to prioritise and be proactive, be able to work on your own initiative, have good communication skills, be able to work as part of a small team to tight deadlines and be able to follow instructions. Experience in a similar role or from an accounting background would be of benefit but adequate training will be given.

We are currently seeking to recruit a Plant Workshop Foreman for our Workshop at Rigifa, Cove.

You will be required to supervise our team of workshop fitters ensuring the cost effective and efficient maintenance and repair of our wide range of plant and fleet equipment ensuring the Company’s Health, Safety and Environmental policies are adhered to at all times.

You will also be responsible for ensuring accurate completion and timely submission of paperwork to include job sheets and employee timesheets.

Leiths - Site Engineer

Rigifa, Cove(Full Time) 

An opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated, experienced Site Engineer to join our busy team working in the Civil Engineering and Surfacing Division based at our Headquarters in Aberdeen.

Main Duties:

Setting out using total stations, GPS equipment, and to be able to undertake traditional setting out using profiles, batter rail and pegs along with as built surveys.

Read and review construction drawings

Undertake basic take-off’s

Raising technical queries with designers and other members of the client team

Have a good commercial understanding.

Carry out relevant inspections and testing to ensure conformance of the works with the design and specification

Ensure all work complies with quality, safety and environmental policies and the requirements of the company procedures.

We are seeking a proactive problem solver, a confident communicator, with the ability to liaise effectively with a range of other professionals.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience of earthworks, drainage, highways, and some experience of reinforced concrete structures. Must also have a CSCS card in the appropriate discipline and ideally hold a CITB SMSTS/ SSSTS qualification.

A First Aid at Work qualification would also be desirable.

We are currently recruiting a Senior Technician to join our Technical team based in the Highlands of Scotland.  This is an exciting position for an experienced Technician to participate in the success of one of Scotland’s largest privately-owned quarrying and civil engineering businesses.

The skills and experience required for this position are:

Fully knowledgeable in UKAS and related British Test Standards

Extensive experience in construction materials and related inspections and testing

Project experience with monitoring of supply, placement and compaction of aggregates, bituminous mixtures and concrete

Experience in reporting of results and writing of Technical Reports

Can do attitude

Highland Lime, Fort William(Full Time) 

We are currently look to recruit a Quarry Fitter to be based at Highland Lime, Fort William.

You will be required to carry out routine repairs, maintenance, fabrication and installation works on our wide range of quarry plant and equipment which includes crushing and screening, sand and gravel washing, milling and ready mix concrete. In addition a sound knowledge of mobile plant would be advantageous.

All works must be carried out in a safe and efficient manner ensuring the Company’s Health, Safety and Environmental policies are adhered to at all times. Essentially you will be a team player who can also work alone in order to meet the demands of this busy site.

You must hold a current driving licence as you will be required to travel to our other sites as and when required.
