Leiths - Precast Estimator

Lochton Precast(Full Time) 

We are currently seeking to recruit a Precast Estimator to be based at Lochton Precast, Durris.

The main responsibility of this role is to price structural, bespoke and general precast products, liaising with design consultants regarding project work and with Leiths Technical Department to ensure precast products comply with all relevant standards.

The role also involves assisting with production and programme planning, and with marketing and business development.

The ideal candidate for this position should have knowledge of the construction industry and have the ability to read drawings and layout plans, and previous experience in a similar position is required.  A driving licence is essential as the role will involve travel to various sites.

Both written and oral communication are important and computer literacy, and numerical accuracy is essential, Microsoft office is used, with emphasis on Excel.

Candidates applying for this position should have the ability to work on their own and be self motivated, have a flexible attitude to working hours, be able to work alone and with others while staying calm under pressure.

CIVIL ENGINEERING APPRENTICESHIP

THE PERSON

Leiths Scotland Ltd are looking for a 17–19-year-old with the following qualities, to start a 2-year Civil Engineering Apprenticeship.

The right candidate should be:-

Reliable and hardworking approach

Willing, helpful, and enthusiastic

Able to continue to learn and take on new tasks

Able to adapt to different working conditions

Prefers the hands-on learning approach

THE ROLE

The apprenticeship will be based in Aberdeen and will be taught through a mixture of college-based education coupled with onsite training under the supervision of our experienced Foremen. Transport to and from site works will be provided.

The position based on a 40-hour week with a competitive hourly rate. 29 days holidays and employer pension contributions are available.

THE FUTURE

Following successful completion of the course and site training the candidate will work towards gaining further experience before deciding which career path to follow either as a civil engineering operative or progressing the route in the capacity of a foreman/supervisory role. The vast majority of Leiths’ Foremen, Supervisors and Managers have progressed their careers following entering the industry as a Civil Engineering Operative.

THE QUALIFICATIONS

SVQ in Construction & Civil Engineering Operations (Construction) SCQF Level 5

The right candidate will be supported throughout all training they are provided during their apprenticeship

The candidate will learn general workplace Health & Safety culture, conform to productive work practices, with area protection and safety equipment required. 

This SVQ qualification will concentrate on the drainage element of Civil Engineering but will also provide the candidate with experience in all aspects of hard landscaping.

Leiths internal training will enhance the course with additional training such as, manual handling, fire and vehicle safety and risk assessment as part of their apprenticeship

Leiths - Civils Foreman

Rigifa, Cove(Full Time) 

We are currently seeking to recruit a Civils Foreman for our Civil Engineering & Surfacing Division based from Rigifa, Cove but you will be required to work throughout the North East of Scotland.

You must have previous experience in drainage, earthworks, hard landscaping and general road construction.

Candidates will hold a current driving license and CSCS/CPCS card. It would be advantageous if candidates possess SSSTS qualification and first aid certification, however, this is not mandatory as training will be given.

You will be comfortable working as a team leader with a drive to maintain high quality standards and achieve set goals.  Attention to detail along with a focus on Health & Safety is vital for this role.

Particular consideration will be given to candidates applying for the role bringing with them an established squad of skilled operatives.

Leiths - Apprentice Fleet Mechanic

Rigifa, Cove(Full Time) 

We are currently looking to recruit an Apprentice Fleet Mechanic to join our busy Workshop based at Rigifa, Cove.

During the 4-year term of apprenticeship you will be involved in working towards the safe and efficient repairs and maintenance of HGV and LGV’s within the workshop and offsite environments.

This position is full time and combines the opportunity of paid work with both an on the job and a formal training programme, where attendance at college will be included and assessment of skills will take place via visits from the college assessor.

The ideal candidate must;

We are currently recruiting a Trainee Technician to join our Technical Service team based at Achilty, Inverness.  

This is an exciting opportunity to learn construction materials testing under the mentorship of experienced Technicians in a UKAS accredited laboratory with one of Scotland’s largest privately-owned quarrying and civil engineering businesses.

Rigifa, Cove(Full Time) 

We are currently seeking to recruit an HGV Mechanic to maintain and repair our wide ranging fleet of vehicles, trailers and powder tankers.  Since the role requires a great degree of independence, extensive experience in fault diagnosis and repairs as well as an ability to work on your own initiative are essential.

The candidate must be able to display working experience of HGV inspections and MOT preparation while undertaking general repairs on various makes of  HGV’s, trailers and light commercials.

You will be comfortable in an engineering environment as the job is very hands on. You will be a team player who can also work alone in order to meet the demands of this busy fleet maintenance division.

A current UK driving licence is essential with C+E categories desirable.

Job Purpose

Responsible for the day to day

Data-entry, reporting and related records management;

Immediate notification of any issues and findings related to data-entry, reporting and related records management;

Receiving, preparing, scheduling and tracking of samples and equipment to and from the laboratories;

Supporting the Laboratory Services Manager in maintaining the company’s quality management systems (QMS);

Assistance in scheduling of internal meeting and related preparation and distribution of meeting minutes;

Maintenance of office supplies and equipment;

Providing general administrative support to the Technical Service group as required;

Identifying areas for process and quality improvements for the benefit of the company;

Conducting a walkthrough of the office and laboratory at the end of each shift to ensure daily housekeeping regimes are being carried out; and
