You will be responsible for managing and controlling the quarry in accordance with the Quarries Regulations 1999 and all other relevant Health and Safety / Environmental legislation with particular attention to standards of performance, conduct, productivity and discipline.

This role requires an individual who has strong leadership and communication skills that can effectively manage, train and develop the workforce whilst promoting a culture of health and safety excellence.

You will have a proven track record of achieving production targets, driving forward continuous improvements, and maximising process efficiencies at all levels.

Duties Include:

• Prepare and enforce all Risk Assessments/Safe Systems of Work
• Plan and utilise all labour, plant and materials
• Ensure the efficiency and quality of material production
• Responsible for achieving production and profit related targets
• Maintain communication with other divisons including the Sales Manager/s and Distribution to meet customer demand and satisfaction.
• Reporting of all material, production, financial information to senior management
• Responsible for efficient and cost-effective maintenance fo all quarry plant and machinery
• People Management including maintain a supportive and team working philosphy and identifying training needs
• Estblish and maintain standards of performance and conduct in relation to the productivity and discipline for quarry employees

We are currently looking to recruit a Mobile & Crushing Plant Operative to work at our Achilty Quarry in Strathpeffer

You will be required to operate machinery including Loading Shovels, Excavators and Mobile Crushing and Screening Equipment. All work activities must be carried out in a safe and efficient manner ensuring the Company’s Health, Safety and Environmental policies are adhered to at all times.

The post requires a current MPQC card and ideally you will have industry related experience and knowledge to demonstrate your competence of quarrying / recycling operations.

We are looking for people who are versatile, flexible and accommodating workers who have a clean driving licence.

We are currently looking to recruit an Apprentice Fabricator Welder to join our busy Engineering Workshop based at Cove, Aberdeen.

During the 4-year term of apprenticeship you will be involved in learning how to use different welding and fabricating techniques to carry out the safe and efficient repairs, maintenance, fabrication, welding and installation works of heavy plant and equipment within workshops and off-site environments, ensuring that works are being carried out in accordance with Company H&S procedures at all times.

This position is full time and combines the opportunity of paid work with both an on the job and a formal training programme, where attendance at college, normally on a day release basis, will be included and assessment of skills will take place via visits from the college assessor.

The ideal candidate must:

• Be prepared to work as part of a team
• Be able to work in a dirty and busy environment to meet deadlines
• Have excellent attention to detail as you will be required to read and understand drawings
• Have an interest in engineering and be willing to learn
• Be hard working, self-motivated, honest and trustworthy

We are currently seeking to recruit a Class 1 HGV Driver based at our Highland Lime Quarry, Torlundy, Fort William. Ideally you will have gained previous experience using Hiab lift equipment however training will be given to a suitably experienced applicant.

The post requires to be filled by someone who is a versatile, flexible and a willing worker who has knowledge of the local area. You will require a sound understanding of the EU rules on driver’s hours and be fully conversant with digital tachograph use.

A Class one licence is essential.

You will be responsible for the safe and efficient production of Concrete Products.

Duties will include:

 - Operating Pan Mixers

We are currently seeking to recruit a Ground Worker for our Contracting Division based in Inverness.

The main duties will include general hard landscaping works such as laying tarmac, excavation, groundworks, paving, concrete surfacing, traffic control and general labouring.

The ideal candidate will hold a CPCS / CSCS card, have previous experience in a similar role, be hardworking, reliable, a good team player.

We currently have a vacancy for an Excavator Operator to work in our Contracts / Quarry based in Inverness.

Ideally you will hold a current CSCS and NPORS/CPCS skills card and have previous experience and knowledge of the industry and Excavators however, full training will be provided.

You will be responsible for carrying out earthwork operations and routine maintenance work. All work activities must be carried out in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with all Safe Systems of Work and Risk Assessments ensuring the Company’s Health, Safety and Environmental policies are adhered to at all times. 

The post requires a current CSCS and CPCS/NPORS card and ideally you will have Dozer experience.

We are looking for someone who is a versatile, flexible and accommodating worker who has a clean driving licence.

We are currently seeking to recruit a Fabricator / Welder to be based at our Workshop in Daviot, Inverness

You will be required to carry out repairs, maintenance, fabrication, welding and installation works on our wide range of quarry plant including asphalt, concrete, aggregates and washing systems. In addition sound knowledge of mobile plant will be advantageous.  

All works must be carried out in a safe and efficient manner ensuring the Company’s Health, Safety and Environmental policies are adhered to at all times.

Previous experience in a similar role is preferable and current driving license is essential as you will be required to travel to our other sites as and when required.

We are currently recruiting a Department Supervisor to join our Technical Services team based at Parkmore, Dufftown, Keith. 

Responsible for day-to-day planning and organising of Technicians, equipment and operations, to ensure that all sampling, testing and reporting requirements are met as per the Laboratory Quality Management System and in accordance with the relevant standards and guidance.

 Key Accountabilities 

• Plan on a daily basis, and in advance, sampling and testing requirements of all materials across our quarries / sites and plants; organise Technicians, equipment and vehicles to cover.
• Report weekly rates of test and other data which may be required from time to time.
• Ensure test and related results are processed onto the trends for analysis and reporting on agreed timescales.
• To ensure all Technicians follow the quality management system and use the latest copies of guidance and British standards during sampling, testing and reporting procedures. 
• To mentor Technicians to provide advice and assist them in their continuing training and competence.
• Carry out regular audits as per the audit plan.
• Ensure all sampling and testing equipment is calibrated, kept clean, and in working order.
• Raise non-conformance reports (NCR’s) and initiate corrective and preventative action to prevent or rectify any nonconformity.
• React and instigate changes and measures introduced within the quality management system or Manager as appropriate. 
• Participate in quality / operational meetings as required.
• Be a signatory and raise reports for customers as required.
• Act in an independent manner, comply with confidentiality and impartiality requirements.
• When required act as a main technical contact for major contracts to ensure their requirements are met.
• Responsible for ensuring that samples required for submission to testing houses, are collected and despatched timeously as directed.
• Perform sampling and testing activities supplementary to the Technicians and to keep familiar with those processes.
• Be prepared to stand in to cover other Technical Services posts if or when the need arises.
• Promote a team working philosophy whilst motivating and supporting the Technical group.
• Act as an ambassador for the company ensuring visitors, customers and staff are communicated to in a polite and courteous manner at all times.

 Skills and Experience

We are currently looking to recruit a Trainee Plant Operative for our Mid Lairgs Quarry.

You will be required to learn how to carry out asphalt production operations and routine maintenance works in accordance with the Quarries Regulations 1999.

We are looking for someone who is a hands’ on, versatile, flexible and accommodating worker who has a clean driving licence and able to operate a computer. No previous experience of asphalt production is necessary as training will be given to candidates who can demonstrate the necessary skills and aptitude to take on this challenging role.
