George Campbell Retires

Leiths

We were sad to see George Campbell retire on 28 May 2014 after 17 years of dedicated service as Quarry Manager at Achilty Quarry, Contin.

George was brought up on a croft at Latheronwheel near Lybster. After leaving school he worked on a farm in Caithness then onto another in Thurso. In 1968 George joined Logan’s where he started his career in the construction sector working on the new road to Skye. He then took up a post as a driller on a dam project in Wales with Ritchies and then with CJB on the Cruden Bay pipeline contract.

It was in the 1980’s that George broke into the quarrying sector where he worked with Davidson Murison of Stonehaven then Les Taylor and finally joining Leiths in 1997.

The company wishes George all the very best for a long, happy and well earned retirement.

Grant Milne, Managing Director of our Quarries Division, wishing George a fond farewell.
