Memorial for Aberdeen Scientist unveiled at Aberdeen’s Duthie Park

Leiths, Fyfe Glenrock

Professor JJR Macleod shared the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 1923 and is responsible for saving the lives of millions of people with Type 1 diabetes. Yet, despite his remarkable achievements, few Aberdonians are aware of his legacy.

Made from reclaimed Aberdeenshire grey and Corrennie pink granite, Fyfe Glenrock were commissioned to shape and finish the granite walling, kerbs, paving and columns to the exacting memorial design specification and to inscribe the stonework with sponsors lettering.
