Leiths

TV Presenter, Paul Murton, recently visited Kishorn Port on the west coast of Scotland, as part of the BBC production - Grand Tour of Scotland's Lochs.  The tour included not only Loch Kishorn but Loch Carron and over the hills to Loch Torridon aswell.  The Tern Television show aired on BBC Scotland on 17 September 2018.

Kishorn Port Ltd is a joint venture between Leiths and Ferguson Transport (Spean Bridge) Ltd, created to develop the use of the dry dock and yard at Kishorn. 

The dry dock and adjacent yard was famously developed back in 1975 by Howard Doris for the purpose of fabricating concrete gravity foundations for North Sea oil platforms.  The 600,000 ton Ninian Central Platform was built there in the late '70s and is still one of the largest floating concrete structures ever manufactured.

The dry dock was drained in 2017 and undertook some major refurbishment works which makes it a great proposition for future decommissioning projects in a controllable environment and also for the manufacture of renewable energy components.

Leiths also operate a quarry on the site at Kishorn, producing high quality aggregates.
