New Defibrillator for Old Lugton Phonebox

On Satursday, 22 September 2018, Willie Coffey MSP, officially opened the new Defibrillator Kiosk.

Through the efforts of the Lugton residents and local businesses, including Leiths, the telephone box has been painstakingly refurbished to house the new life-saving equipment.  Earlier in the year, the Community Council had taken ownership of the Kiosk from BT for the nominal sum of £1. The project was run and managed by Lugton residents Martha Brindley and Lizann Shuttleton under the auspices of the Dunlop and Lugton Community Council.

MSP, Willie Coffey officially opened the kiosk and local MP, Alan Brown, also attended in support, along with many local supporters, including Leiths' David Mallan, Area Quarry Manager, who manages the local Lugton Lime quarry.

Martha Brindley commented, “On a personal note, I am overwhelmed and humbled by the community spirit shown from every single person who became involved with us. It has been a rollercoaster of a journey.”
